Most days we spend as much time as we can out of the house. We go out to lunch, we go out to dinner, and in between, we look for new places to eat and parks to explore. We've run in to wetlands and amusement parks, and found all sorts of cool things, but sometimes you just need a day in.
That was today. We decided we would get take out and watch a movie at home all together and just relax. I didn't realize how much I had missed TV, and how deprived I was for entertainment in English, until I found myself shushing my children to better follow the plot of a cartoon.
For dinner we went across the street and found an amazing buffet. It has so many different traditional Chinese dishes and you just grab a container and fill it up with whatever you want and pay based on weight. Drew and I each filled up a container and then we got some fresh dumplings from a lady on the street for the kids. We also saw a woman making candies popcorn down the road and grabbed some of that as well.
The food was so good, and it was so nice to just be in, sit on the couch, and watch a movie together as a family. As we sat there on the couch together, I laughed to myself, thinking back on the last time we had a couch. While selling our things to come to China, our couches sold in a matter of hours. We posted them for sale really early, to try to get the best price for them, so it has been months since we've had a couch. I felt a little more grateful, and our apartment felt a little more like home as we sat around our coffee table and enjoyed our meal and watched our movie.
